Experience

Iain Taylor set up e-corporate in December 2006 after 20 years practising as a partner in the field of corporate and commercial law.

Between 1986 and 1999 Iain was a partner in Bishop and Robertson Chalmers. At the time he left the firm it had 19 partners, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Vilnius. The firm no longer exists, having become part of Brodies LLP during 2006.

Iain established its Vilnius office in 1995, after playing a key role in setting up its Edinburgh office in 1988.

In 1999 he left the big cities and became corporate partner at Young & Partners in Glenrothes – attracted by the prospect of helping develop an innovative regional firm which had abandoned the typical "High Street solicitor" business model to focus exclusively on its business law practice.

During his time there, Young & Partners’ corporate law capability developed into a service which could be trusted with major 7 figure transactions.

Iain's experience has included

  • Representing the Lithuanian government in the privatisation of the Lithuanian shipping company
  • Representing a French multinational in the privatisation of the Lithuanian telecoms company
  • Advising the Slovak government on competition law reforms
  • Project managing an EEA wide study for the European Commission on unfair terms in consumer contracts.
  • Representing a multinational car manufacturer on a programme of replacing its UK franchisees
